In addition to the http://developer.android.com/[^] link mentioned by Richard, I recommend getting the 2 O'Reilly books on Android: "Learning Android" and "Programming Android". I found their explanations and deep dives invaluable.

IMHO, it's nice to have a book when you're learning a new technology from the ground up.
