Solution 1

I would recommend using Adhoc reports in SSRS. I would suggesting going through the tutorials at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337436%28v=sql.100%29.aspx[^]

Essentially you will design a model that the users can then select data from.

Have you tried RDLC report format with ReportViewer control? This is a free reporting tool form MS shipped with VS or downloadable separately. Learn more about it at http://www.gotreportviewer.com/[^]
