How to remove virus from XLS file

I need to read input xls file, remove virus/macro and write new XLS file. I can't find any tool which will remove virus programmatically. Please Help.

Do you mean you want to scan it for viruses first? Viruses and macros are different things. An .xls file can have macros without having any viruses in it. Are you having to deal with a specific virus? Do you know it's name?
