count values in group in crystal reports

hi all,
i am new in crystal reports. i have a some columns in sql 1 column for status like done pending etc and another for grouping like john, smith etc. problem is that i am creating dynamic tables in crystal reports like one table for john another for smith etc and i want to count total status of john where status is "pending" please help me for this problem thanks in advance.
