SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1).
error CS0006: Metadata file 'C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Xml\2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089\System.Xml.dll' could not be found

Error code 0x84B10001.

It seems that no .NET 2.0 installed on the machine...

Have you tried restarting the installation? Also, are you upgrading from an earlier version of SQL Server or is this an install onto a machine that has never had SQL server installed?
