How Can I Design A Map In Java ?

I wish to draw a map in Netbeans (a GUI application) and i wish to draw some routes and houses on this map,
the idea is to determine wich route is the best into two houses selected per example,
the best route is the route that have the less bottling(the bottling will be selected randomly by the system)
can anyone have some hints or some code to help mee beginning this project?
