.DAT is a Berkeley DB file.You could check out Berkeley DB for .NET to see if it is able to read the file.Berkeley DB for .NET provides a wrapper library for the Berkeley DB database library. It is based on version 2.0 of .NET due to its improved support for interoperation with unmanaged code. All CLS compliant .NET languages are supported. Download link
