How to read HDMI Input frame buffer in Linux?

I am trying to read/access HDMI Input frame buffer in Linux. My research so far shows that I can achieve this using the Capture Cards. Is there any other technique to achieve this. If not Are there any Linux compatible capture cards. Any suggestions/techniques to achieve this will be really appreciated.
