Performance/Speed of web application issue

i have an asp.net web application and its speed is good when i access it from a LAN network but when i access it from the wide area network its spedd is slow. How can i solve this

Reduce the data transfer of your web app.

Since WAN's are limited in bandwidth and latency then it stands to reason that you should reduce the amount of bytes you transfer.
