I noticed Chrome went through an update, since a few days it looks different. (for instance, the tabs on top are noticeably different)

Twice in the last couple months Chrome started getting very sluggish for me. Both times clearing the history / cache fixed it right up.

Bonus points if you now can tell me what CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductors) got to do with all that. 
By the way: In CMOS chips lurks something called a parasitic Thyristor[^] that can cause a lot of trouble, especially when the polarity of the supply voltage is reversed and there is no diode to protect the chip.

The memory is a RAM that loses your BIOS settings once power is cut. That's why it is kept alive with the battery as long as the computer is turned off. CMOS draw about 1000 times less power from the battery than memories that are built with other types of transistors and the battery lasts far longer.

That's extremely problematic, especially if that cheap looking prop you got as a tool gets stuck[^] and you only have seconds before the warp drive executes its final GOTO (hell).

Once had a customer years ago with some crazy issues with a system of ours, after a couple of days on the phone, beating our heads against the wall, come to find out that the installer had put a polarized connector on backwards. Think something like a large RS232 connector. Says the installer, 'Oh yeah I remember, that was a difficult connection to make, we needed to hit it with a rubber mallet to make make it seat properly...'.

And what do we learn from that? Don't rely on mechanical means to protect your connector. See to it that nothing shorts out when someone really succeeds in reversing it.

The installer has then been repeatedly hit with a steel mallet to make it reason properly.

Not sure how unless there was no battery in there in the first place. Ever since I was very young I would look at how something was originally placed before removing it to either put in a replacement or just rebuild it for fun.

... at a coffee shop table in front of what seems to be two young colleagues (both in company outfit and with luggage and laptop bags), one girl and one guy, sitting in front of each other. They are small talking together while the guy is actually only hardly listening, because absorbed by surfing the web on his laptop. It has been more than half an hour now, and the girl has been looking at that guy (and doing nothing else the whole time) like any guy would like a girl to look at him, with what I would call obvious signs of interests. And needless to say, the guy is completely not noticing this.
