In other fora, if you make any statement whatsoever that is not an Indisputable Absolute Fact, you will immediately have three to five guys yelling at you: That is just your d*** opinion! Don't present it as a fact! Others may think differently!
You have this yelling even if the context clearly indicates that the statement is a personal reaction or opinion. If I say that "J.S. Bach was the greatest composer of all times", any reasonably witted person would know that this is my opinion, not 100% neutral Fact. But in some fora, the statement is invalid. Whether I use imho or spell it out, "In my opinion, J.S.Bach was the greatest composer of all times", every opinion must be guarded this way. Not too long ago, I stated two opinions, in the same paragraph. The first one was guarded; for the second one, I didn't repeat the guard that started the paragraph. Yet I was attacked for presenting personal opinions as if they were facts.
So, in some fora, the style is prefix any judgement, opinion or other reference to non-Absolute-Facts with ihmo or similar guard. But it variaes from one forum to the other.

If you really want to trigger people who troll you for what is clearly an opinion, just respond, "When I'm right, I don't care about your opinion."

This thread reminds me of when, while driving around with the kids, we used to play I-Spy. After a short while basic clues got too easy so we graduated to things like "PIFATSOTR". This, obviously, is for "pylon in field at the side of the road".

That's not unique to acronyms though. It's entirely possible to be arrogant while pretending to care about the other party in a fully-fledged sentence. Just like with any other form of speech, acronyms can be used for good or bad.
Heck, one of the last times I spoke with my mather, she followed the usual "how to make sure the other side feels cared abut"-advice to the letter. Meaning she followed the form and form only.

I'm trying to make the link between your subject line and the actual message content.
If you're looking for API references, the online docs are probably still your best bet - at this point even the very last MSDN disc that got pressed is now horribly out of date. I've sent the few thousands I still had for recycling a few years ago.

Nobody wanted the discs when the company I worked for was acquired by a bigger fish and our local office subsequently got shut down. That was back when MS made everything available on CD/DVD, including all available languages.
Like you, I've kept the various binder types they came up with over the years--they're still useful. I also kept a small subset of the more unique discs, like the final 16-bit Platform Archive they had created in the early 2000s, as well as the very first MSDN release (from 1995, I believe, which fit on something like 14 CDs). I may still have "the very last of everything" somewhere. But I had tons of duplicates. No point in hanging onto those.

this MSDN library is most recent one: targeting .NET framework 4.5.1. I want to install one copy in case I have no internet access so that I still can do some research.

Any book by Jeffrey Richter should cover some of the advanced win32 stuff you can do.
Most of the rest can be figured out through the MSDN docs

Sit down, and describe what your goals as a programmer are. Describe what you already know, and what types of programming you have done. What OS's, languages, types of apps.
Share those here, and you may get some good ideas.
cheers, Bill
