AFAIK, you can only have that kinda Email Id when you owned this domain..
For example, I owned one domain name called "http://michaelsync.net". So, I can create any Email address like info@michaelsync.net or blabla@michaelsync.net.
So, If you are sure that you own this website "http://housedecoration", you can create the id that (info@housedecoration.com) you want.
It's not about programming languages (eg: VB.NET or ASP.NET)

I've got a PC Program that has a synchronize form which calls a web service to get data updates from our servers. This is working good for all but one user who gets this exception when trying to call the webservice method:
The remove server returned an error (500) internal server error
Since no one else is having this problem, I'm assuming it a setting on the user's machine or some setting through their internet provider. Does anyone have any ideas of what can cause this error or where I could even start in trying to figure it out?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Normally when I have issues with a web service the first thing I do is try to access it in a web browser from the problem PC. So if you type in the url including the asmx file you should get a page back depending on how you set up your web service. If you can see the webservice in the brower it should work with your app.
My best guess without more info is that your webservice is perhap only internally DNS on your local intranet. Since it doesn't have an External DNS an outside user can't get to it, but that is pretty much a complete guess.

Thanks for taking the time to consider my problem.
Unfortunately, I am not able to recreate the problem that this particular user has. And I am able to access the web service via a web browser just fine. I haven't asked the user if he can, but I didn't see how the answer to that would help me. I figured it would give me the same error message, but I suppose it is worth a try.
I know that the webservice is not just on the local intranet, because other users have been able to access it without problems. That is why this is so confusing, I thought everything was working just fine and now I have this one user who is having problems and I can't figure out what is different between his computer and everyone else who has been able to get access. The only thing I can think of is that the user has dial-up internet access provided by Earthlink. Would they have some kind of security or setting that would prevent a webservice from working?
Again, thanks for your help. If you have any other ideas or advice please let me know.

You are right about they will probably be the same error, but at least then you know for sure it is some sort of DNS issue. I am not totally sure how it works with dial-up, but I am pretty sure it works the same, anyway, you could manually point your url to the correct IP address by updating their local hosts file. Before you do that you could try accessing the url with an IP address instead of a name. If that works then you might just be able to update your configuration file, I am assuming your web service url is in a config file.

By the way, if the web browser does work, it might be a rights thing. If your appliction is marked as partially trusted then your app would not have rights to access the internet.

If Access is fine or not, depends on how many users you will have. You've not said what you're writing this in ( asp/php/asp.net/etc ), so yuo can't hope for more specific help until you say what it's in. Any of those would allow you to use a DB, however.

Well, according to everything I've read on the net, you can call a javascript function from vbscript (and vice-versa). However, When I try to do this, IE6 reports a "Type mismatch" on the javascript function. Here's a code snippet:

Wow - this brings back bad memories.
IE can run VBscript on the client. However, you seem to be running it on the server, in which case, the answer is no. You can't call client code from the server, for a variety of reasons.

The statement is on the server side, and it puts a string in the onclick property of an element. The code in the string is not executed on the server, it's put in the html code that is generated. When the page reaches the browser, it parses the html code and put the value of the property as an event in the element. When you click on the element, the code is executed.
The code is wrong, by the way. You don't use the javascript: protocol in events. That's only used when you put Javascript code in an URL.

I'd say that it depresses me how many people are using ASP.NET and have no idea of the server/client division or how web development works.
Like Guffa said, you can inject javascript into the page on the server side, in fact, the server side is one huge engine for generating HTML and javascript, precisely because that's all you can serve to the client, and expect the client to do anything with. So, again, the javascript can only run on the client, getting it to the client is the whole reason the server side exists.

Hi all,
How can I offer the functionality 4 a software to be downloaded after purchasing it (instead of shipping it)..
The problem is that I want a secure access to the software so that only the people who purchase it can download it (only once for each customer), not any1 who knows the URL can download it..

1- provide an account for each customer.
2- store the software(binary data) in a database.
3- when the user clicks to download the software, perform any checks you want before getting the software from the database.

The problem is that I'm using SQL Server 2000 so the size of the software will be much larger than the size of a binary column in the database..
Any Clue??
