RaGE is a French engineer in mecatronics, who has written software for embedded automotive applications and device drivers in another lifetime. He also worked as a process development improver automotive parts company in the world. He knows about CMMI, SPICE, and other kind of obscure ISO thingies.

His firstname is actually Regis [pronounced "Rage-iss"], but this was one syllable to much for his friends.

He loves magic tricks, especially with cards and coins, plays badly the guitar and is a great sports fan.

He was also very proud of being cited in Ali's bio. Long live chocolate !

IT professional since 1964. Started "career" as a tab operator for an insurance company in Dallas. Worked my way through computer operations into programming. Highly skilled in mainframe assembler. Have participated in and led the development of large scale, commercial systems. One of six individuals that created a consulting / development company in the late 70's. Had an eleven year run before a lawsuit killed us. Have spent time since then in software / technical management positions. Love this stuff to this day. Program in C++/MFC as a hobby to maintain my sanity.

Folding@home is a project from the Standford University. Your help would be appreciated. And it's free!

http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding/

What does Folding@Home do?: Folding@Home is a distributed computing project which studies protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases. We use novel computational methods and large scale distributed computing, to simulate timescales thousands to millions of times longer than previously achieved. This has allowed us to simulate folding for the first time, and to now direct our approach to examine folding related disease.
How can you help?: You can help our project by downloading and running our client software. Our algorithms are designed such that for every computer that joins the project, we get a commensurate increase in simulation speed.
Who "owns" the results? What will happen to them?: Unlike other distributed computing projects, Folding@home is run by an academic institution (specifically the Pande Group, at Stanford University's Chemistry Department), which is a nonprofit institution dedicated to science research and education. We will not sell the data or make any money off of it. Moreover, we will make the data available for others to use.In particular, the results from Folding@home will be made available on several levels. Most importantly, analysis of the simulations will be submitted to scientific journals for publication, and these journal articles will be posted on the web page after publication. Next, after publication of these scientific articles, the raw data of the folding runs will be available for everyone.

Started my programming life writing Excel 1.0 macros, God what a long time ago.

Now I'm a dotnet developer, I get to influence direction, play with new toys, build stuff, life is wonderful.

Greatest buzz you can get, walk past a row of desks and see your application running on all of them (and getting paid).

Greatest irritant, pouring 12 months of knowledge and experience into an empty head only to have it leave.

And now I'm retired, no deadlines, no meetings, no managers (except the ONE) and no users!

I am a software developer in Johannesburg, South Africa. I specialise in C# and ASP.NET MVC, with SQL Server, with special fondness for MVC and jQuery. I have been in this business for about eighteen years, and am currently trying to master Angular 4 and .NET Core, and somehow find a way to strengthen my creative faculties.
