get mail count from folders in exchange server using asp.net

hi,

Vb.net, VS 2010

i would want to make a asp.net webpage that can get the count of emails in each folder that i specify directly from the exchange server.
i have tried it using OL, but i would want it to directly pull it from the mail server

its actually for exchange server 2003
