Need to press ^ twice

Hi Folks,

Am facing an unusual issue. Our application runs on Windows XP embedded. I find that i need to press the ^ (Shift+6) key twice to see the ^ in an edit box. Same is the case with the ' key. I need to press it twice. This is not just related to our application but its across the system. For Example: This happens even when i try to type the same in the Run window.

Is it something to do with the locale / keyboard settings. Can anyone of u plz lemme know how to solve this.?

Solution 2

This is standard behavior and is due to keyboard settings. This is to allow to type characters like "e" with a ^ on it that you see in French. Those characters are not on a standard english keyboard, so if you want to type it, you first have to type the ^ character, then the "e" character.

I think this is standard windows behaviour - same here!

You can try to switch to a different keyboard language layout and see if it still behaves the same.
