Factors for web application speed

Hi ALL,
I hosted a web application in a server which is having sql server 2000 and .net framework. But it works very slow. IS it depends upon the configuration of the system? What are all factors that needs to be checked for determining the speed of the web application. Kindly provide me any sites regarding this.

From the information you have given, it is not really possible to help you.

It could be one of so many factors:

Internet link type/speed
Processor speed/ load
Ram amout/usage
SQL server config
Your code

The first thing you need to do is to try to eliminate as many variables as possible and then work out where your bottlenecks are. Start by eliminating SQL and your code (make it a minimum app you can time) and go from there.
