Hello, everyone. I need an advice.

I've recently got a bachelor degree in Computer Science. I've got some experience in C++, but it seems rather difficult to go on moving in this direction. The language is pretty difficult. It becomes more and more difficult to find a job for a juniors in the area where I live. And the demand for C++ in the market is lowering every day.

That's why I decided to study another language or even a platform as main.

What platform would you recommend to learn? Java or .NET? Let's try to look from different points of view:

Which technology is more difficult to start?
Which is more high-paid?
What programmers are more in demand? In my area, for example, .NET programmers are in greater demand than Java ones.
Which technology is easier to find the first job in?
Which is more popular in the world? Maybe in a few years I'll try to change my place of living and move to Europe/USA.

If you can do one you can pick up the other easily enough. The most valuable skill is not the language you use to implement a solution, but the ability to choose the right approach.
You may find that today Java is paying more than .NET. What about tomorrow?

I have been around the block a few times and have over 20 years in the business. When I graduated I was using COBOL. Then I added FRTRAN for some specific problems, had to learn C and then C++. Another job and another technology, I moved over to Oracle and their tool set. The next step was to move into VB, then .NET and in the last five years I added Java.

Learn how to program irrespective of the language and you'll go a long way. Todays hip languages will be the dinosaurs of tomorrow.

I'm sorry there is not an easy answer, but that's the way it goes.
