Solution 1

This is a nonsensical question. You must supply the server name in some fashion. Whether it is having multiple connection strings or dynamically adding the server to one. There is no such thing as a one size fits all connection string.

The first only works for localhost, not very useful when the database is on a separate machine.
The second does nothing more than then construct a string
The third is completely useless
