It is good to ask the method how it could be done any way for your info
please search optical character recognition demo you may find in code project which is written by Daniel . And there is a help in matlab hope you will enjoy

Solution 1

The terminology for letter recognition is OCR. However, if your class is requiring you to write such a thing, you should expect that your teacher can use google and will find you trying to find ways to copy code from the web.

Also, you should use the tag system properly. A proper tag would be the language that you're using, and perhaps MATLAB, and graphics and OCR.
