How do I generate a pdf in java, which contains unicode characters?

I want devanagari and english to be appear at same time in pdf. Currently created pdf file showing boxes in place of devanagri text but english text appears fine.
Also I dnt want to use any additional library or 3rd party library like iText. I just want to do it through java.

You can use Apache PDFBox[^] which is open source.
