When I add a new Existing Project in Visual Studio 2005 The error is given that "The project type is not supported by this installation".

How to remove this error?

Please clarify, A NEW project or an EXISTING project?

You cannot have both.

What version of VS2005 are you using?

And what version of VS2005 has been used to create the existing project?

You might have to upgrade your VS installation?!?!?

If you're using an Express installtion, there might be some project types that are not supported.

What is the project type?
Did you check on msdn to ensure that you have the appropriate tools installed to open this project?

Do you have the right .Net frameworks installed?
