Developing extension packages for Visual Studio 2005/2008/2010/2012 using C# with real-life samples (2/6)

This article contains an overview of Visual Studio Automation Object Model. Model's overall structure and the means of obtaining access to its interfaces through DTE/DTE2 top level objects are examined. Also discussed are the issues of using model's interfaces within multithreaded applications.
