Nonsense. I didn't actually read the article, but I would counter that we don't lose focus, its just that years of experience has shown us that life is short and too precious to spend too long on any one task. Or we've become so desensitized, we just don't care as much anymore.

Don't know. Didn't read, because I got distracted.
When you are dead, you won't even know that you are dead. It's a pain only felt by others.
Same thing when you are stupid.

In the May edition of the TIOBE Index, a new programming language makes an appearance at the very bottom of the top 20: Scala. Random list becomes more random
So why is it news? Because it amused me, and you're all victims of my amusement.
Or something like that.

What this means is that Excel users will be able to use JavaScript code to create a custom Excel formula that will appear in Excel's default formula database. Coming soon: JavaScript exploits in Excel

Just mix it in with a PHB who thinks that a spreadsheet is a database, that oh-so-lovely COM interop and add a pinch of blind optimism. Et voila! A recipe for a Michelin starred train-wreck that will be making lives hell for decades to come.

So 30 minutes to implement the change, mostly spent looking for the correct line of code to change, and 500 hours of burrocratic overhead that kept the change from being done 20 years ago?
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

ML.NET will allow .NET developers to develop their own models and infuse custom ML into their applications without prior expertise in developing or tuning machine learning models. As they continue their battle against good product names

Have to concur, naming a product in this space ML.NET may mislead people to think it is a .NET variant of ML (as indeed F# is).

People will get used to it. Most MS .NET devs are barely aware of F#, so doubt they'll have heard of ML.
