Returning to the context where a memory was formed temporarily brings back vivid details of the episode by increasing the electrical excitability of the engrams that store the memory in the brain, a new study shows. Posting this before I switch tabs again

A very memorable article.
Rat A goes to section B before section AB but rat B goes to AB longer than rat A went to AB because he was at A while B was already at AC and rat C doesn't know where the Hell he is and WHO LET THAT CAT IN HERE?!?
There are times when bullet-point lists can be useful, don'tcha know.

Well there's a shock.
I think Proust expressed it all somewhat more eloquently a long time ago.

As of Windows 10 build 18298, when you open the properties page of any Console window, you’ll notice an additional “Terminal” tab. Click on this tab and you’ll see several new settings for some experimental features we’re working on for future OS releases First Notepad, now Console. When will the sanity end?

Is this to appease those who remember the days when windows had a very useful terminal app?
Too little, too late. We're all using products from other companies, now.

What were they thinking?! These erroneous guesses about tech in 2018 would shatter any crystal ball. "Prediction is very difficult, especially about the future."

A string of bugs when chained together created the perfect attack to gain access to someone’s Microsoft account — simply by tricking a user into clicking a link. It's fixed, but ... sigh

There's a new Windows Insider build out today, and the biggest changes appear to be none other than Notepad, Windows' venerable barebones text editor. "1981, its over... Future is Now!"

Coming next: Notepad will be integrated into Paint 3D, and made Cloud-only!
(This seems to fit some other of this mornings headlines. But if the prediction comes true, the world will end. Really.)

Detecting and identifying unreliable pages is of key importance, as it might help to warn users and reduce malicious activity on the platform. All of them?

Pretty much.
It's almost certain that an AI tasked with the job would eventually realise that any page expressing a political opinion is toxic, so fb would be confined to displaying pages about cats and political correctness mandates.
IMO, that would be an improvement, because it would be even easier than it already is to ignore.

Etymologically speaking, the "mandate" means to hand over, because "mand" means "hand" -- as in the thing that should be used to bitch-slap any semi-literate people who try to take ownership of English.
