We are calling it Windows 10 "Update Edition", because that seems to be all you can do with it is Windows Updates, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until you get fed-up and install Linux.

That's a bit harsh, it's not always Adobe Flash that has vulnerabilities found in it, it's often Adobe's Acrobat Reader too.

I only say that because it has earned that reputation. It's about as secure as IE6.
I know Reader has a ton of security holes in it too, earning it about the same reputation.

It might help if there was a patch you could apply for IE11 and Edge.
Oh well; disabling Flash works just as well.

For Edge, AFAIK it'd be pushed via windows update similar to how Chrome gets Flash.

It wasn't there when I checked this morning.
When I checked an hour ago, it started downloading FCU.
It's now been sat on "Downloading updates: 62%" for a good 20 minutes, with no network, disk or CPU activity.

Seriously, I installed chrome because I wanted a web browser. If I wanted an anti-virus software I would have downloaded and installed one. Google should really stop overstepping it's boundaries like that.

Even after clicking through to Google's original post it's not clear. Is this a full system AV packed into Chrome, or just a new version of Chrome's built in defenses against crapware being injected into it?

That's a very good question. I got the impression that it was the latter (just expanded with a few things from ESET), but I could easily be wrong.
Ah, it also seemed to expand the functionality of the Chrome Cleanup Tool[^]
