I wrote my first post here and it was to complement the Daily News copy, and this "thick and thin" line was the impetus. ("Message closed"...prob not real relevant to anyone, me loving the Insider subheaders)

It looks like it's designed to collect all the security flaws of all the IoT and other devices in the "ambient" into one convenient package for hackers.
That might sound like a bad idea, but it does allow google to steal a lot of personal data while everyone is distracted by scare stories about the hackers, so it has a silver lining.

Install fixes when they become available. Until then, don't sweat it. Beware of hackers with potentiometers?
I'm going out on a limb here: if hackers are in the position to try this exploit, they've already had your data for a while.
