Visual Studio doesn’t tell you what to do: it offers suggestions.

It just likes to feel helpful in these big life altering decisions.

SO if I'm reading this correctly, you're saying that Visual Studio is the new Clippy.

Now just so you understand, I have read this as I only have a couple of hours to drink sometime next month. You set the pace and I will try and keep up. So yes, I am around.

VS2019 has AI in its intellisense. No, really. (See the VS2019 keynote.)

Admittedly off-topic, but wouldn't you want to cache the value (if any) read from the registry?

For anything other than "when was Windows installed?" probably yes - but how many times does an app need to know that?
It was a response to a very specific question!

I've only just got round to starting to migrate to VS2017, and I figured that I might as well bite the bullet, and go straight to VS2019 instead (I've been using VS2013 since ... oh, 2015 probably and not needed the newer stuff)
And I might as well tidy up as well. So ... uninstall VS2015 (pile of junk) ... takes longer to uninstall than I remember it taking to install. And it leaves a pile of rubbish lying around that you have to remove manually, except it gives you the wrong paths to them.
OK, let's uninstall VS2017. And what's the first thing I have to do in order to uninstall it? Upgrade the VS2017 installer in order to uninstall everything including the installer ...

Might be a little extreme ... The other apps I'd have to re-install / find the licence code / swear because I forgot them makes that the nuclear option.
But ... I just uninstalled VS15, VS17, Android studio - and gained 133GB of SDD space!
And now to fill it all back up again using VS2019, I suspect!

I used to make a habit of disabling/disconnecting the internet when both installing and uninstalling [particularly large/complex] apps. They've got an annoying habit of calling home or just annoying you with "why are you leaving" forms.
these days I don't uninstall anything, I just clone a part-ready VM - it's quite surprising how compact and efficient windows actually is without years of cruft, even after installing vs and databases.

And I always thought it was to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women!
I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats.
His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.

The full quote is: Quote: 'To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of women. This is the best in life!'
It is not the 'secret of living'.

Conan is only the soft version anyway. The original had some more interesting points on the list.
