Agreed, but the show has ever explored the ramifications. I'm sure they are going somewhere with this, but we probably won't know where until near the end of the season.
Maybe if enough of the virus ends up in your system, you turn without having to die, creating a type of super walker... Someone that can communicate and that is smarter than the dead walkers.

It must have been a real PITA!
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

03:30 Cat throws up hairballs on the bed. Luckily, manage to remove cat from bed, so only have to use spot cleaner vacuum on the carpet rather than change the duvet.
10:30 Dentist. 11:45 get home, one tooth prepared for a crown which won;t be fitted for three weeks. Head hurts, gum hurts.
14:15 Courier arrives with replacement UPS - original had clearly been dropped and was returned. Have to go out, will open it after lunch.
15:00 Original box better, but photograph unpacking just in case. Turn on new UPS and it powers up my monitor! Yes! Get it all settled in it's new location, ready for me to swap cabling over from UK mains plugs to IEE sockets. Plug in UPS to fully charge.
BEEEEEEEP! "FAULT" shows on display...
Try again, same thing. UPS works when not connected to mains, doesn't work when plugged in. Oh, Amazon ... time to come get it ...
I'm guessing that it's a bit on the fragile side, and can't cope with couriers heavy handed approach to life. Refund this time, and I'll find another manufacturer. Maybe they will be a bit more robust.

I guess I'm lucky my dentist has one of those CEREC devices, tooth prepped, crown made, installed, and tweaked, 1hr, 'tis a good thing.

What kind of battery is in there? Anything of the lithium something type? I had a few that had fallen out of the sky that were showing signs of damage while optically still looking intact. I did not wait for them to swell or become a hazard in any other way. Desite their high capacity, lithium something batteries are not a good choice for this application. If they stay charged constantly, they don't live very long, lose capacity and in the end again become quite hazardous.

I go flying with these Lithium Polymere batteries[^]. Even after two years they don't show much degradation yet. They still have a low inner resistance and I have not yet noticed any loss of capacity and I check ater every flight. Still, LiPos are really dangerous if you don't treat them well.
Physical damage, shorts, keeping them charged over longer times, discharging them too low or letting them get too hot will kill them. They don't exactly leak. They bloat up and release really unhealthy gas. This gas can even ignite and fill the room wit incredible amounts of poisonous smoke. In other words: Discharge and get rid of them at the first sign of trouble. Don't wait.
I don't think that LiPos would be a good choice for yor device. The batteries must be some other flavor of the Lithim family. Perhaps LiFe (Lithium Iron)?

Purely from the weight, I was half expecting teeth to be lead acid!
Mind you, years ago the place I was working hit by a ground strike: took out the telephone exchange, fax machine, and every IDE card in all computers that were plugged in. We were up and running the next day.
The company down the road wasn't so lucky. Their UPS exploded, and sprayed the VAX with battery acid... Nasty.

All of the UPSes I've had experience with have utilized sealed non-spillable lead-acid batteries. As far as I know, these are the best for UPS applications, as they weather the trickle-charging required for constant readiness the best of all types of rechargeable batteries.
I don't know of any UPSes that utilize anything else, but would certainly be interested in both knowing about them, and the reasoning behind why the manufacturer chose to use them.

I think so too. Using Batteries that take damage from staying charged permanently does not sound like a good idea, even if they have higher capacities or allow a higher discharge rate.
