If that was a requirement the overpopulation problem would quickly get solved.

You know, we have to have licenses/proper age/physical condition to do various activities, like driving, horse riding and so. But to be a parent you only need to be of age...
I'm not questioning your powers of observation; I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is. (V)

I can't imagine how those little kids gave birth. Okay, some of them gave birth through Caesarian process, but how about the others? Thru normal delivery?!

No not a recipe, that's what the UML class diagram of my application has ended up looking like. Usually it is
The foot bone connects to the leg bone
The leg bone connects to the knee bone...
but in this case the foot bone also depends on the thigh bone, inherits the neck class, implements the backbone interface, etc etc.
This is what comes of accruing technical debt. Coding like crazy to meet deadlines and please demanding clients only gets you deeper in crap.
Oh well, back to work...

Hah I'm desperately looking for an opportunity to rewrite an app completed last year to meet a tight deadline that I know is crap. Changing requirements led to exactly your type of skeleton, I have a hammer that I really need to take to it with.
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity

That is called IT development. Get over it.

Yes, I've figured out that much. Posting here is just to dilute my sorrow by inflicting it on you folks
BTW none of my programming came from school, it was too long ago for that. Maybe I should go back to school to unlearn some of the nastier hacks I've picked up.

I think you are hearing the wonderful old song "Dem Bones" (aka "Dry Bones") : [^]. The full lyrics are there, at that link. My favorite cover of that song is by the Deep River Boys whose version of "Shadrach" makes them immortal: [^].
I'm with Jimmy on strategy in this case. Be sure and practice looking horrified, astounded, revolted, etc., every time the client is present. Sobbing, and threatening suicide, because you are so ashamed of the pile of dung that the other programmers created could also be effective.
Of course, any strategy must be based, first, upon an estimate of what the client can pay
