And I fully understand where he's coming from. To illustrate his point, he comments:
"I always got annoyed at Zack Snyderβs Dawn of the Dead remake β itβs a great movie. Itβs really exciting. But I hated the fact they called it Dawn of the Dead , because that was George [Romero]βs film. They could have called it Deadish , which was a great line in the film that one of the actors used, and it still would have been a great film, but when you just take a title because people recognize it, itβs so disrespectful to the original."
Ummm...Star Trek?

With very few exceptions Hollywood remakes are awful*. I could make a list of the truly bad ones but I have limited time, it still wouldn't be complete and my fingers would likely cramp up. Instead I'll make a list of the only good ones:
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978 w/ Donald Sutherland)
Scarface (1983 w/ Al Pacino)
The Fly (1986 w/ Jeff Goldblum)
*Seems like every generation feels the need to remake "A Star is Born".

Hollywood isn't much better at first versions, either. I enjoy the Jack Ryan stories from Tom Clancy, but aside from the original Hunt for Red October, not one of the movies supposedly based upon any of his other books even remotely resembles the book in plot of casting. It's as if somebody liked the title and made a movie, but never got around to reading the actual book!
Will Rogers never met me.

+1 for the hunt for red October

But why is the Russian submarine captain so Scottish?
Heh. It was still awesome.

I notice the latest update email has the links coded differently to before and being naturally suspicious I wondered why?
Previously links were direct to codeproject.com
the latest links are https://apps.developermedia.com/...
|
|
|
|
|
I do not have this. Where is this to be seen ?
The link you provided requires a registration on my side, so I doubt this is initiated by cp.

This mornings update email, I noticed if you hover over the links that instead of linking directly to codeproject.com they linked to the address I gave
Probably not that sinister as I have since found that Chris Maunder started codeproject AND developermedia.com

Possibly related to the issue back in May:
Our newsletters are all actually organised and sent out from our ContentLab (was DeveloperMedia) system which handles our publications

That seems very likely
I did a search for developermedia but didn't change the search to messages doh!

DeveloperMedia is a business unit of CodeProject Solutions and handles (and has for years) all the emails for CodeProject and related sites. We made a change last week to simplify the link handling because it was all over the shop and it was difficult to track.
It's all still us!

Cool, interesting.

What are actually all the Code Project (as a company) activities, if I am allowed to ask ? I've been here since almost the very beginning (who remembers the Great Database Catastrophe ? ), and have since then always assumed that CodeProject is "just" a mega-cool website funded by ads - like the naive person I am and who never notices how fast time flies. But surely you've grown this to a multi-field business in the last 24 years...

CodeProject Solutions is a group of businesses that compliment each other:
CodeProject.com - this website.
CodeProject.AI - our AI server product we produce to help developers integrate AI into their apps easily
ContentLab - A Content Marketing agency that helps companies create content for technical audiences (We got tired of seeing the drivel out there so started helping companies do it right)
DeveloperMedia - A media agency that handles all the advertising and newsletters. We're in the process of rebranding this to ContentLab Amplify
There's a couple of other Skunkworks things, and small projects we started such as Ref.CodeProject.com and rootadmin.com that we never had the time to fully finish. We also own the ASPAlliance.com, Devmavens.com and HTML.net, though these are essentially archived.
cheers
