Just a problem in catching up. Have you any idea how long it takes to count all those members?
And naturally, someone (perhaps like you) will start making noises that begin to sound like a need for a recount.
And just in case it came to mind - OG cannot do it as he's still counting (or was that counting on?) sheep.

If I may make a guess.
For the sake of selling adspace you need to actually have reasonable knowledge of the actual number of possible readers.
I imagine there is a need to prune inactive accounts occasionally.

Only 300,000 spammers?! I think some Korean astrologers beg to differ.
Or does that number reset every month?

No, that's probably about right, from the "feeling" I get in S&A.
Most spammers don't post 1 message, so you tend to get repeats, and while the volume of detected spam is increasing (as the membership goes up, so does the attraction to spammers) I think it's likely to be around 40 or so per day at the moment.

the CodeProject DNA, like that of Homo Sapiens, includes genetic ghosts of now extinct species that differentiated from the common ancestor, and then, later, interbred with the current dominant expression of the species.
Some current members clearly exhibit remarkable expression of these phantom species. I am sure you know who they are.

I've asked my mother if I have a gorilla ancestor close by in my family tree. Standing upright, the ends of my fingertips are only four inches or so from my kneecaps. I have the longest damned arms I've ever seen on a human. When I was a teenager and she would buy me long-sleeved shirts, she would buy the shirt to fit the sleeve-length and then have to take in several inches of material on each side of the torso.

Yeah but now you need double the space. By just changing the 32-bit type from signed to unsigned, you've doubled the time range but haven't taken one extra bit of storage. And who needs to store negative times?
