Probably "Uninstall": I've never used it or wanted to ... for text / binary file editing, I use PSPad - it'#s free and does everything I need. For source code I use VS because why wouldn't you?

for binary file editing i recommend "010 Editor" . it is noΕ£ free but it is a pleasure to utilize but mostly it offers templates . or i can give you my copy of "FileRay" the 1st binary file editor which utilized templates 2y prior to 010 . it was written for XP . i am not certain of its' function under 10 / 11 .

I've been using NotePad++ but I may switch, PSPad looks a lot more lightweight.
I don't think before I open my mouth, I like to be as surprised a everyone else.

I tried to keep up with a number of editors at some point, but pretty much gave up. VS is (obviously) my daily driver, but I'll use VS Code every once in a while, although less so as time progresses as I'm rather annoyed there's now so much extra crap it takes quite a bit of time to load. Every new version seems to pack more, and that's not a good thing as far as I'm concerned.
If I'm just browsing plain-text files, nothing still beats Notepad in terms of load time (a must, IMNSHO). Unless the file is huge.

"secure text editor."
Why does a text editor need to be "secure"?
Myself I have been using Textpad (paid version) for several decades. Only problem with it is that it only runs on Windows (most of the time not a problem.) The license is really flexible.

Great idea! I've been rumaging through CP Lounge posts for ages and have never thought to engage the general populus through light-hearted banter, AFTER running the standard "I just paid $107,914.74 for some hardware" up the pole in a plea for experimental platforms on which to narrow one's learned expertice!

Back in the day, ultracompare and the editor itself... now... Visual Studio Code or Notepad++ + WinMerge.

Back in 2006 or 2007, I checked out all of the available editors including UltraEdit. SlickEdit won out, and I still use it. I will admit that VS has done a lot of catching up, but I don't see any reason to stop using my chosen editor.

I've got a "word in one" a couple of times; but I think "pleased" is a better adjective than "proud" as no actual skill is involved!
