Interesting... What kind of oven? The last week I had to replace the bulb in my Delonghi, and it was as easy as push and turn (a bayonet-lock)...

Over the years I've had ovens (always electric) with both bayonet and screw bases. Bayonet is more or less standard for light fittings here but a lot of "specialty" lamps are screw. This oven is of European (German) heritage, no doubt made in China.

Before I screw in a new bulb into any socket, I smear a light coating of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) into the threads. That totally prevents the thread from becoming corroded fast into the socket and the bulb unscrews easily, even after a few years. Petroleum jelly has a high melting point, so it stays on the threads, but I won't use it in a oven.
Ok, I have had my coffee, so you can all come out now!

Vaseline melts way below 100C, and the liquid is flammable. Not in my oven, thanks!

Good idea but I think I'd use a tiny smear of coppaslip instead.

Mine's been out for years. When it burnt out, I reached in and tried to unscrew it by hand; the glass crumbled in my hand. I don't feel like lifting the beast up and pulling it away from the wall far enough to unplug it, which would render it safe enough to use pliers to remove the base, so I keep a flashlight in the kitchen.

I have four of these which are not being used
Samsung 970 EVO Plus
and I'm thinking I could use them in a NAS of some sort - has anyone here done this ?

The good news is that you should be able to find an affordable interface due to the M2 specification. You'll likely have to shop around. My laptops use pure NVME devices that are far more difficult to find external boards. I've been living on SSDs for over 10 years now starting with SSD SATA drives. The SATA interface was cheap, well know, and for backups, I could just use an inexpensive disk cloner that did it at the h/w level, byte for byte.
It's been a few years, since I've tried again. Maybe there are devices out there that now support pure nvme. It would be nice, but I simply gave up. I've moved almost all of my systems into virtual machines, so my backups are as simple as copy/paste.
Just be careful with the device descriptions on Amazon, Newegg, etc. Somethings the leave off critical specifications.
HMMM, just found several affordable devices on Amazon that support up to 4 nvme m.2 devices. Should be an interesting project.

well as in, I learned something new and it made me think a bit. I have too much on my plate as it is - wife's chariot is dead this morning - but I wonder what the performance would be of ssds in a raid. I'll let the OP let us know
