Thank YOU. More than the servers, the hamsters, the staff, and the Maunder-machine we fill with coffee and force to work through the night, what makes CodeProject what it is is YOU, the community. You're an integral part of that and we thank you for your dedication.
(and if you ever want to post an article in a burn-free environment, please feel free to send me and email. I'll take a look at your initial idea and drafts, offer you resources, and can even send you to the small group of kindly Mentors to help your article to completion. or you can continue to lurk as long as you like, we're very happy to have you)
Thanks,
Sean Ewington

Thanks Sean, I really appreciate it. I do have several ideas and I'll make sure I run them by you first.

Ah one of the silent majority, welcome to the light. You should get out more often, it can be entertaining, some will laugh at you, some will laugh with you and some will call you a grumpy old bugger.
I had to give up articles when we went to xaml, Silverlight and then WPF, winforms were simple by comparison, everything was under the same rock not scattered across the landscape

Tell me about it. I'm currently working on a project for the Microsoft Hololens, which incorporates xaml in conjunction with Unity 3D and Windows 10. Deployment on those things are a real PITA.

I stumbled onto this place almost 10 years ago and joined for the daily newsletter. It was a few years before I found the Lounge and probably a couple more before I ever posted here. I agree with you...it's a great community.
Now, that you've broken the ice, we expect to see more of you here!

Yes it is. I currently work for a global company with its two main offices in the US and Scotland, so I know that sometimes the cultural differences can be cause issues; however, I love how this community works together, but still has the humor and playfulness to make it interesting and fun.

Ever since I was little I've been a fan of Fantasia[^]. Awesome movie with awesome music. I still love it
Now I just watched Fantasia 2000[^] again. I've seen it in IMAX when it first came out (and I think there was only one IMAX theater in the entire Netherlands back then and it wasn't 3D either!).
All I remember from that IMAX experience in 1999 was some jazz and abstract art. Not quite like the original Fantasia... And that's why I never really liked it.
I guess the only thing jazzy and only slightly abstract in the entire movie is Rhapsody in Blue, so I guess that stuck with me somehow (I love Rhapsody in Blue though!).
And why can't I even remember this evil hellish Firebird[^] by Stravinsky?! I always thought that Firebird was a nice phoenix, bird of rebirth, by the way...
Other than Gershwin and Stravinsky it's Beethoven, Respighi, Elgar... Nothing jazzy there.
The only thing I disliked about Fantasia 2000 is that it's only 74 minutes and it features Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice exactly how it was in the original Fantasia! So that leaves only about an hour of new movie, only half of the original Fantasia...

I'm not sure that the phoenix actually is all that 'nice', certainly not in Narnia where it guards the equivalent of the Garden of Eden! But it's definitely not the firebird which comes from the Slavic folk tradition with no reincarnation powers and is often seen as a kind of Holy Grail.

Well, nobody else has! Might be worth a fiver on them to win the whole thing at this rate. And to think, it all started with a humble little frozen food shop!

They would have to beat England - France - then Spain/Italy/Germany to do that. There is money to be made by backing an underdog in this tournament but it's in the other side of the draw.
One team from Switzerland,Poland,Wales,NI,Croatia,Portugal,Hungary,Belgium WILL make the final. I'm having a flutter on a couple of these tomorrow as the Euros has thrown up a 'Leicester' quite regularly.
Just compounds Roys mistake to make all them changes. It's obvious he's only aiming for the Quaters/Semis to keep his job. I hope they sack him and replace him with....with...um...replace him with....um..um....for f***s sake...he's going to keep his job because there is no-one else.

Don't forget his great Aunts Cousin or something, is from Northern Ireland so he'll support them if Hungary go out and then there's England as a back-up. I'm fully expecting that by the Semi-Final stage he will tell us he owns a German Shepard and has an adopted son called Pedro.
