To me it depends on how the gig went. I've given notice of over a month to deserving employers where there was mutual respect along with a letter as Mr. Pfeffer suggested above.
The worst was a two-hour notice [no letter, duh] because there was no respect. The only reason it took two hours was so I could say good-bye to those worthy fellow employees. I did spend some time with the company president to let him know the why/how of what I was doing in the hope that the "survivors" would be treated better. The last thing I did there, just before walking out the door, was tell the horrible manager how horrible he was. Again, for the survivors. I knew I'd never be invited back but sometimes ya just gotta tell folks what's up.

Does it always stop at the same points? And have you tried transcoding it?

Yes, it always stop at the same points...
I've just tried transcoding it using handbrake and when the transcoding process reach the "stop point" the transcodification gets interrupted.

FreeMake works for me most of the time, or there is VirtualDubMod which gives you a load more control with defective videos.
Can you ask for a "clean" copy of the original?

Even Meteorite works fine I'll keep those ones in my favorites folder just in case.
Thank you!

Just solved it downloading METEORITE, it's a very easy drag and drop program that repair MKV files.

I used to like MKV, but Chromecast doesn't like them, and...tends to freeze up while playing them...
So I use FreeMake to transcode them to MP4, which works with everything so far!

Last year I gave my parents a couple of chromecasts as a Christmas present, and a month ago I discovered the videostream chrome extension.
It looks like a perfect companion for the Chromecast, it acts as Serviio as you can define folders in your computer where you have videos, it has a remote control available for android and it seems to transcode some formats like mkv... I was impressed with it.

That works nicely!
I'm impressed - once I got it working, which wasn't trivial because Kaspersky didn't like its Secure comms to Chromecast - it transcodes MKV, AVI, WMV, ... nice!
Thank you for that: is it worth your adding it to the Free Tools forum?

Does the timer go on or does it stop counting? If it is a mpeg file it may be a broken index.

It goes correctly till 2:54, then it jumps to 2:58, stops counting for a while (the 4 seconds that are missing are not shown and the time in the progress bar gets stopped at 2:58 during 4 seconds) and after that it continues...

Then it is corrupted, IIRC VLC has a Repair function. I'd give it a try!

I've found a tool that makes it super easily: Meteorite... you need simply to drag and drop your files there and it works.

Meteorite is a good... Oh, I see you've found it, excellent!

Okay, first time, I hope this renders correctly:
ĵ¬□□=>ف~
(8 letters, boxes are intentional)
Edit: Moved letter indicator
Hints:
1. The guy on the left does all the work but doesn't go anywhere...
2. ...unlike the vessel on the right.
3. Port activity.

Move the letter indicator (8) to a separate line...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.
