Once my daughter, 3 years old, grabbed the phone before us ... it was a telemarketer; that's been great fun for 15 minutes: since then she is answering to unknown callers

Well when you come home from work one day to discover your house has been resided in barbie pink, don't say you weren't warned.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Please don't mention barbie, IMHO (and in this case also not considered) there are already too many of them in my house
In any case I keep my credit card in a very high place, just to be sure

All that means is that when you come home to a bright pink home, she'll also be in trouble for climbing on furniture.

I hate telemarketers. When I still had a land line, when they called it was no holds barred - I cussed, threatened, and insulted their ancestry in the most disgusting terms possible. A few times it was a game to see how quickly they would hang up.

Try Travelodge, there is one in Hounslow that is very cheap (35 £ / night for two people under Christmas in 2013) and literally ABOVE the Piccadilly Line. It's 4th zone so the tube ticket may be a bit expensive, but the accommodation is of good quality - very nice and helpful staff.

London everything is stupidly expensive. You'll need to take out a second mortgage just to buy a pint of beer.

One doesn't travel from Dublin to London for the beer...

I don't know - there's more variety in London, so you've got more chance of finding some good ones. It's got to be better than drinking the same OK-but-not-brilliant beer all the time.

The world is getting short on elephants (unlike Australian cats) - we should protect them don't you think?

So that "our kids can see a real elephant"?

Without any elephants to act as surrogate mothers how are we going to bring back the mammoths? Duh, it's so our kids can go and see a real life rendition of the ice age in the future.

Mankind has already f***ed up enough of this planet and its inhabitants. We should make efforts to not kill off another entire species - its bad for planetary morale.
