^ So much agreement here.
I don't want software to be too smart for its my own good.
[Edit]
I take that back.
A lot of times VS will tell me exactly what's wrong with a line of code. If you know what's wrong, and you know how to fix it...fix it[1]...please?
[1] But maybe ask me before you do it. I just don't want to have the same error listed 17 times, and have it rely on me to apply the same fix repeatedly...

VS is no problem if it tells me where I'm wrong and what I need to correct. All this is something private between VS and me.
But adding a recipient to a mail automatically (like Outlook did) surprised me very much. This time it was not dramatically, because I did not added some 'private' comments to my drafts.
Anyway I learned my lesson. means, 'take care, are you sure to send that mail'

Agreed that the context here makes all the difference.
I'm not sure how someone at Microsoft decided it would be a good thing to have Outlook add a recipient on its own based on the content of a message. Especially without asking.
Cleary this guy has never done a Reply All when he meant to reply to a single person only.

this happened to me awhile back. Every since I don't do any drafts or anything like that anymore in outlook. OneNote yes. Outlook NOPE.
Trying to use OutLook less and less. It keeps getting worse and worse. Apparently they have reached the bottom of the well and started to dig.
To err is human to really elephant it up you need a computer

If it's any consolation, I know someone working on the Outlook team, and they think a lot of the stuff management insists on is boneheaded, too.

I don't write those down. I did it one single time and got burned.
These days I strive to not even think denigrating thoughts. Certainly doesn't provide any benefit for the rest of the world and doesn't help me either. I figure if I don't even think about it then there is no possibility that I will communicate it in any way.

It's a feature, not a bug. It's used to tag people in emails so they know there's a specific question or action for them.
Probably an unpopular opinion here, but you are using it wrong.
Cheers,

Friend's business use Windows client VPN (or whatever it is called) to connect to routers via L2TP/IP Sec. One road warrior just had to replace an SSD so upgraded to W11. Everyone else still on 10 (or Mac and Linux).
They configured his machine (remotely) and couldn't connect. I tested his credentials here on a W10 VM and it worked, but on a W11 VM it refused to connect. It authenticated but then timed out.
I am only 50 miles away but the system in question is in So. America. After moogieing around, removing and recreating the user (I don't think this had anything to do with it), it connects almost every time from here.
After connecting his system wired instead of WiFi, it connects "most of the time" for him. I suspect:
1. Timing delay between the Auth OK and response causing the router to miss the response (if it is sent). More susceptible on WiFi.
2. There is no retry if it is missed, it just waits the usual 45 seconds and times out. Very helpful error message: "it failed to connect".
He never saw this with W10 on his system.
Anyone seen such when switching to W11? Maybe just a red herring. Bothers me that I had trouble with my W11 VM, very rarely used, I am (sorta) retired.
will have to do some more testing when I get a round tuit.

The recreation of the account might have played more role than obvious.
Like if it was bowling or throwing darts or something, maybe it was just too busy.

We don't celebrate birthdays so it's not a problem - our wedding anniversary is New Years Eve which is hard to forget

My sister got married on her birthday.
I remember telling my brother-in-law that was smart of him, but if he ever forgot either, he was never gonna hear the end of it.

We arranged my wedding for the day before my birthday. Very hard to forget!
What's surprising is that after the date had been arranged, I learned that my new sister-in-law had the same birthday and same wedding anniversary!

Forget them early in the relationship, lowers the expectation. If the wife wants me to react to an event she has to tell me prior to the event, NOT after I am already in the sh*t!
