1. The lounge is for the CodeProject community to discuss things of interest to the community, and as a place for the whole community to participate. It is, first and foremost, a respectful meeting and discussion area for those wishing to discuss the life of a Software developer.
The #1 rule is: Be respectful of others, of the site, and of the community as a whole.
2. Technical discussions are welcome, but if you need specific programming question answered please use Quick Answers[^], or to discussion your programming problem in depth use the programming forums[^]. We encourage technical discussion, but this is a general discussion forum, not a programming Q&A forum. Posts will be moved or deleted if they fit better elsewhere.
3. No sys-admin, networking, "how do I setup XYZ" questions. For those use the SysAdmin[^] or Hardware and Devices[^] forums.
4. No politics (including enviro-politics[^]), no sex, no religion. This is a community for software development. There are plenty of other sites that are far more appropriate for these discussions.
5. Nothing Not Safe For Work, nothing you would not want your wife/husband, your girlfriend/boyfriend, your mother or your kid sister seeing on your screen.
6. Any personal attacks, any spam, any advertising, any trolling, or any abuse of the rules will result in your account being removed.
7. Not everyone's first language is English. Be understanding.
Please respect the community and respect each other. We are of many cultures so remember that. Don't assume others understand you are joking, don't belittle anyone for taking offense or being thin skinned.
We are a community for software developers. Leave the egos at the door.
cheers,

Everything still pristine.
No registry/repository bloat.
Heckin' faster than the last one.
Still has that new car smell.
I love it.
My machine just came today. I don't like setting them up, mostly because installing Visual Studio is like waiting in the line at the DMV. The machine is not the fastest thing out there, but it's the fastest thing I've had by a considerable margin
AMD Ryzen 7 4750G
32GB RAM
512GB NVMe
2TB HDD (to be replaced with SSD eventually)
Currently onboard video (I'm not a gamer but i might buy a used vid card)
Windows 10 is my host OS. I almost went with Win7 or a hypervisor. In the end, I didn't want to deal with it. I have a separate machine if i want linux.

Mine has 64 GB, some sort of 3D card, and two SSDs, so that windows runs on one and my code on the other. It's pretty nice, except that it randomly powers down. I am returning it for warranty service

Neat! Yeah I thought about getting 64GB but the price point was much better for a 32GB machine, and frankly, i was almost doing okay with 8GB

In addition to my earlier reply, this may be useful: 10 Best Web Hosting Services (40+ Hosts Compared) | HostingFacts.com. Don't know if it is any good, since everything on the web is biased by money now, but it may be a good place to start.
Actually, since they recommend HostGator I'd say the list is crap. I had them years ago and their service was abysmal, unless they turned a very tight corner. But the list might still get you started.

I've been a dev for over 20 years. I worked for a real prick in the USA for a long time. But the worst job I had was my last one. I was working for a body shop who had no work for me for six months. So I started some side work. It was all Angular JS and C# back end. The team was a dev who was really quiet, and approved a lot of what I said but never backed me up, and a person who owned the company and told me what to do, but had NFI.
The company was riding on one contract, with a council who had a history of suing people who didn't deliver. My boss would agree to anything they asked for. As an example, we had to generate PDF documents and instead of doing a MVP, we went for gold, and worked for two months as they daily made changes she accepted. They had no planning they just coded madly. I tried to impliment agile and they just wouldn't do it. In the end we had a mutual parting of ways and I moved to Melbourne, where I got 4 job offers in 3 weeks. The job I moved to has been awesome, and I'm glad I was put on a path to end up here, but my God, they were useless.

Did I mention they were terribly racist? They got a guy in to do the front end. He was Asian. My boss says 'he's not like other asians, he's assimilating. He goes pig shooting'
I said 'F***, I've never gone pig shooting, have I assimilated'?

A friend just pointed out that today we'll have (or had, by now) the time 21:21:21 of 21-01-2021 in the 21st century...
So I explained to her about the ing Gregorian, Chinese and Julian calendar (as examples), time zones (and that they're not all an hour apart), notations, leap years and seconds, standards AND HOW A COMPUTER CAN'T HANDLE ANY OF THEM!

So I had a Gold Coast holiday booked, but there's a couple of Corona Virus cases up there (australia is nothing like the hot mess the USA is in). My wife is a nurse and won't go. So I got vouchers from the airline.
This morning I get an email that I have to rebook a flight. Seems they only refunded one and I have NO vouchers. They are useless
I also have $600 in vouchers for Gold Coast theme parks. I actually HATE the Gold Coast

Having an airline is a sideline. Their primary business is transporting livestock, primarily in cattle cars.
