True, but cultures that developed closer to the equator, where seasonal variations are much smaller, typically attach less significance to solstices and equinoxes than cultures closer to the poles.
In any case, winter solstice festivals[^] are very common to the human experience.

So, I've got the tree and decs down, and with the help of Dij the cat (um...) amy puttin up the decorations for the season.
To help me in this, I have wound the music up : from Serious Sam The Second Encounter, the Snow Level "Jingle bells" bit, complete with machine gun fire, rocket launchers, headless bombers, and Kleer galloping around.
Very festive.
It will soon segue into Trans Siberian Orchestra's "Dreams Of FireFlies" and "The Lost Christmas Eve" albums.
So what do you listen to to get that festive feeling?
