The next step is to attach electrodes to their legs, so that their managers can select a strategy from my new RU AssKicker android app, tap a button, and send the players running to the appropriate positions on the field.

To me, the term "allowing" means that the teams have requested it.
I think tracking each player the entire game could be used by coaches to generate some nice strategic review, as cameras might not catch all players all the time. It seems they needed permission from the league to put them on their players, otherwise risk it as cheating.

I've just tested a download capture on IE 32bit successfully using add-on (BHO for IE), but I don't think IDM uses the same technology, at first I thought IDM surely uses add-ons for all popular web browsers but I had to think again after I had recognized that it supports a "Add browser" button which only needs you to choose the .exe file of the browser, how can you create a new add-on and register it for a completely strange web browser? I think of hooking technology which is used by IDM to capture download on a web browser. However I also detect that there is an add-on installed by IMD on each web browser (IE, Opera, FireFox...) and that may be IDM uses add-on technology to capture download for all popular web browsers and for strange browsers (added manually via Add browser button) it may use hooking technology. Using add-on is really not too complicated and I did once successfully on 32 bit IE, but hooking is something still a secret to me, I've googled for days without finding any one discussing on this, what API function to hook? ...
Again this is not a complete programming discussion, it is worth being thrown in here, the lounge.
Thanks!

Did you really not know IDM I meant in my original post is Internet Download Manager? It's a very well-known program in field of download management.
I'm not a lazy guy who just jumped in here to beg for a wiki link about 'What IDM stands for'.

I could guess, but it's customary for a reason to introduce the unabbreviated term at the first occurence.
but I don't think Internet Download Manager (IDM) uses the same technology
and use the abbreviation afterwards - especially for three letter acronyms.

(emphasis by me).
Exactly. It has tons of different meanings outside that, wikipedia is merely scratching the surface. Meanings you might not have come across, but that are "very well known" in other fields. If this was meant merely as a high-five to fellow download management app brothers and sisters, I'm sorry to have bothered you.

I just installed the latest iOS (6.1) on my iPhone, and after it installed it went through a configuration screen, which setup backups to iCloud for me. The process seems to have deleted all of the phone numbers from my contact list (and it looks like it deleted some contacts entirely). And it seems I'm not the only one. I guess this is their way of actively testing out the feature to make sure it works?

I hope it did the backup before it trashed the list...
I must admit, I get more and more impressed with Android and it's integration with Chrome. If I add a bookmark on my desktop PC, it shows up on my Tablet!

Me too. Can't check right now, as the net Nazis at my company are blocking icloud.com and when I visit that page on my phone it just wants me to setup iCloud with the phone rather than giving me the option to log in.

OriginalGriff wrote: I must admit, I get more and more impressed with Android
I'm the opposite, I am more and more becoming dismayed with Android, in particular, 2.3. I cannot stand my phone. I detest it. Texting is a pain, typing something is a pain, going on the internet is a pain. It rarely gets SMS's without me texting first, it seems the phone keeps a backlog of messages that it does not bother to tell me about until I send another message, which can get confusing. Every damn thing is p*ssing me off with it.
I had to install a new SMS program on my phone, because it seems that the one that is part of Android takes on average 2-3 minutes to send a message if your inbox has a few thousand messages in it. Takes about 3 seconds with the different SMS program I use. Browsing takes an age whether it is on WiFi or "3G" (which barely seems faster then 2G anyway).
I used an iPhone a few times recently and I am very impressed with it. It works smoothly, page scrolling dosent make me want to throw it at a wall, texting just works. I shouldnt need to have to install a ton of alternatives to the stock programs, if I've paid a load of money for it then I want it to be usable and reliable, with the option of installing something new if I like.

Do bees even have knees? I mean, I know mutts have nuts, but cats don't have pyjamas (unless they are forced to live with very strange old ladies)

Quote: cats don't have pyjamas
Those few cats with owners willing to buy their cats pyjamas (or pajamas, or however you spell it) probably get really nice ones. P(y|a)jamas, that is.

Maybee. Those aren't strictly knees, though - beecause they are more like extra elbows. Where's the knee cap?

Hmm possibly. Another advantage to the iPhone, you can actually officially update your phone.

Ouch! My opinion of Apple product quality has not improved...again.
You poor bugger - this is why I spend so much time making all my devices talk to a central repository, which gets backed up each day.

Hehe, I know what you mean.
By the way, what software are you using to coerce your devices to sync with a central repo?
|
|
|
|
|
A pile of differerent ones: I use Outlook as the center, so the phone is pretty easy: Sync Center handles that.
The Nexus 7 I use MyPhone Explorer (which has a few problems, like it doesn't auto start on connect, which is a PITA)
Basically, I take connectivity into account when I pick the hardware - if I can't connect it in and share info between them somehow, I don't buy it. I'm pretty sick of being tied to a single company because that's where my data is and they don't talk to anyone else!

They all do that now (I believe Opera was the first, as usual).
Maxthon goes one further, by allowing you to open pages that are open on your other devices, so I can browse for pages on my PC (which is easier than browsing on a tablet or phone), and if I think I'll want to open them at work/in transit/etc. I can just leave them open, and tap a link to open them on my phone or iToy later.
That saves the hassle of storing and deleting bookmarks/favourites for pages that you don't want to keep longer term.
