Can you believe we have an Italian starting work here on Monday? And he is going to be sitting on the desk next to me. I already have his first job pencilled in. If we win, he is going to be filling in the Office World Cup Wallchart.

Isn't golf a game that the Scots invented to keep the English busy?
I've been assured that soccer was invented by the English so they could show the rest of the world how to talk loud and then lose.

One of my dreams is to visit New Zealand and that because of the beauty of the land. I see I have to add also the beauty of the sky...

You should consider Lesotho - same sky, higher altitude, much less light pollution.

Working on a telescope on La Palma (Canary Islands) going outside during a night shift and looking up was amazing, the sky seemed almost white, and the La Palma Observatories aren't a particularly high group.

As a New Zealander, I have to say I was amazed at the sight of the sky on the Navimag ferry from Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt in Chile. It was a little cold lying on our backs on the metal deck of the ship - especially the first night, the second was OK until the crew kicked us inside at 3am.
We were able to cover all the lights on the ship than shone on the deck, so had no unnatural light, no air pollution - just looking up at the milky way. Was fantastic.

So, Watterson could be back[^].
I am mitigated about that : it would be great to have new cartoons of Calvin & Hobbes, but I am not sure that the same spirit would be back after a pause of 20 years.

Dearest Mrs Wife is up in Sweatyland for a few days and just called to say mornin'. She told me about the breakfast in the hotel which included the option of waffles with maple syrup and BACON.

Where is the maple syrup from or is it imitation flavour? Is it the real deal?
If it isn't, then that's like saying turkey bacon... that just isn't bacon.
