I'm just dead impressed that he knew the quote. I'd have struggled and I'm a theology graduate!
Having said that, it is one of the least understood quotes in the the Gospels. If, instead of 'the Sermon on the Mount' it was entitled, 'Jesus does stand-up' it would be far nearer the truth. The point is that Jesus is sending up the Pharisees and the like who believe that you only get to heaven if you are scrupulously righteous and obey the Torah in every detail. By showing what that would actually entail (cutting your own hands off or putting out your own eyes to avoid the merest possibility of sin, for example) Jesus ridicules the very notion of a righteous man and salvation by personal holiness. So this passage on adultery is not an extension of the injunction but a recognition of the sheer impossibility of meeting the standard it requires. We are, it turns out, only human, and Jesus, like all good comedians, invites his audience to share the joke!
At the time he was exposed to the Vortex, he was inside a computer-generated universe created for his protection by Zarniwoop. Since the entire universe was created for him, the TPV told him, in effect, that he was in fact the single most important person in the universe.
