Time for a winge, I have registered on several jobs boards etc and noticed lately that the ammount of spam I am getting comes in waves, not too much start or end of the month in the middle I am fighting viagra ads! , anyone else notice this?
You don't say how you are receiving email, but for me, I have my own Exchange server.
My firewall subscribes to about 10 black lists (RBL's).
I don't recall seeing a single spam message for about 2-3 months.
When I do receive one, I take a break from my duties and research how it got through, and I submit reports to various services and make adjustments to prevent that from recurring.
My firewall reports that 75% of incoming SMTP traffic is spam. And 1 in 100 contain malware which is also detected and blocked at the firewall.
