Ugh, there's almost nothing as bad as an SVN mindset in 2018.
(I say almost because COBOL and VB6 still exist.)
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. You like that? You go right on staring at it. I prefer looking at galaxies.

Please tell me you said "I agree, that's why I want to create ONE branch. Also, are you suggesting I work on these WITHOUT them being in source control? Or that I should be making suspicious changes to code in the main branch?"
I said it before, I met a guy with 5yrs of SVN experience that NEVER did a branch or a merge. I explained to him that he has 3 days of SVN experience, repeated many times over 5 years

...there can be a silver lining, like when someone I've never talked to before in a different department is really meticulous and is asking me all the questions about setting up an automated job that nobody here ever told me about, and I've been here for almost 2 years.
It's people that do their job right that I really appreciate.
So you nearly had that one. I almost feel sorry for you.
(This is my only contribution since I can never even get to almost when it comes to figuring these things out )
I'm pretty sure I would not like to live in a world in which I would never be offended.
I am absolutely certain I don't want to live in a world in which you would never be offended.
Freedom doesn't mean the absence of things you don't like.
Thanks! I'm not good at the ones that require a lot of thinking. Either they leap out at me (or a smartass quip like today's one does) or I don't get them. I've gotten a few over the years. Even made DD's league table back in the day.

I love sorting out artificially problems created to make things 'better'
Our software is mainly matlab. We create a nice exe that works nicely and plays well if you hit it with a stick hard enough. However I am hitting hell in updating as it now uses an external .net dll that keeps getting blocked.
I now know I can probably sort this out using a group policy, but with 6 domains, each under a separate AWS account, it is going to be a lot of typing for this weary keyboard warrior! [Or is it worrier?]
You have an O-ring, and a finger ring. Which one do you really have to kiss to get the mafia to do something for you? You may be kissing his finger ring, but in reality, you are kissing his O-ring (his ass). Loses everything when you have to explain it.
Good idea, but it won't work for multiple reasons.
Matlab exe's are rather nasty little beaches that don't like playing with others! It has been a nightmare just to get it to work with an external dll properly; trust me.
