I feel terrible for the people who aren't getting paid. For those that are pulling the whole "clearly they aren't doing anything on the regular" bit, quite a number of people are still working, and contractually obligated to work, but will not be paid for it until a budget agreement is reached. It sucks.

You're probably right. If I remember right the scientist who helped them render a simulation for Interstellar had a "why of course that's what it would look like" moment after seeing it for the first time. I don't think what it looks like had ever crossed his mind before - he was probably plenty excited by the columns of numbers.
Not my impression. When I was a teenager, one "A child is born" movie (so liberal that it would have received an XXX rating in the US was seen by everybody and his cat in our country. A few years ago, the baby that was born was given a broad presentation in one of the weekend magazines, both online and printed versions; he did not have any bad feelings about being the great star in the movie without being asked for his consent ...

Who ever thought that designing a product that contained batteries, wires, electronics, and that could talk to the internet; then put that lot into a suitcase you carry onto an aircraft as hand luggage was a good idea?

But yeah even off the plane if you left the thing unattended and the police will pick it up: hmmm batteries, wires, ... and a SIM card (signals detected), hmmm, let's call the bomb squad [and their collection of special very destructive tools] to take a look at this.
