I've been installing the bare minimum to get drivers to work and avoiding all the extra crapware since said crapware started insisting I need to log in in order to automatically update to new drivers on my behalf, spam me, etc.
It's just drivers. That's all I need. If I have to do a login, you've lost the plot.
When I started w/ GoDaddy, they were cheap & accommodating...w/ great support & lots of free features. Now, I'm paying over $150 annually for deluxe Linux hosting; & they are now charging $140 annually for SSL (which I don't currently have). In February, Google is going to stop showing websites in searches that do not have SSL...so I really need to make a move now.
1) Can anyone offer advice on a good hosting service that offers a lot of space...offers a deluxe (multiple domain) package...has free SSL...& is cheaper (much cheaper, I hope) than GoDaddy?
2) I have 3 domains & host 3 sites w/ GoDaddy...how difficult a task is it to transfer those domains?
Had more or less the same problem, switched to one.com this summer. They have free SSL, using LetsEncrypt.
Normally because LetsEncrypt expires every 3rd month, you have to update the SSL keys pretty often. But one.com has a clever script that does it for you, I haven't touched my site Tungware[^] for half a year but its https:// is still going strong
I also have moved (one last item to go) from GoDaddy to NameCheap.
A little getting used to but they really work with you adapting to a new interface (at least for me) - the standard CPanel.
GoDaddy, giants that they are, have gotten greedier and greedier. Low-ball pricing to get you set up and then relying on the reliable laziness of most people to not want to change things when the prices skyrocket.
Only one more domain to move (and no website). Very Good Riddance.
