1. The lounge is for the CodeProject community to discuss things of interest to the community, and as a place for the whole community to participate. It is, first and foremost, a respectful meeting and discussion area for those wishing to discuss the life of a Software developer.
The #1 rule is: Be respectful of others, of the site, and of the community as a whole.
2. Technical discussions are welcome, but if you need specific programming question answered please use Quick Answers[^], or to discussion your programming problem in depth use the programming forums[^]. We encourage technical discussion, but this is a general discussion forum, not a programming Q&A forum. Posts will be moved or deleted if they fit better elsewhere.
3. No sys-admin, networking, "how do I setup XYZ" questions. For those use the SysAdmin[^] or Hardware and Devices[^] forums.
4. No politics (including enviro-politics[^]), no sex, no religion. This is a community for software development. There are plenty of other sites that are far more appropriate for these discussions.
5. Nothing Not Safe For Work, nothing you would not want your wife/husband, your girlfriend/boyfriend, your mother or your kid sister seeing on your screen.
6. Any personal attacks, any spam, any advertising, any trolling, or any abuse of the rules will result in your account being removed.
7. Not everyone's first language is English. Be understanding.
Please respect the community and respect each other. We are of many cultures so remember that. Don't assume others understand you are joking, don't belittle anyone for taking offense or being thin skinned.
We are a community for software developers. Leave the egos at the door.
cheers,
Chris Maunder

I've been a dev for over 20 years. I worked for a real prick in the USA for a long time. But the worst job I had was my last one. I was working for a body shop who had no work for me for six months. So I started some side work. It was all Angular JS and C# back end. The team was a dev who was really quiet, and approved a lot of what I said but never backed me up, and a person who owned the company and told me what to do, but had NFI.
The company was riding on one contract, with a council who had a history of suing people who didn't deliver. My boss would agree to anything they asked for. As an example, we had to generate PDF documents and instead of doing a MVP, we went for gold, and worked for two months as they daily made changes she accepted. They had no planning they just coded madly. I tried to impliment agile and they just wouldn't do it. In the end we had a mutual parting of ways and I moved to Melbourne, where I got 4 job offers in 3 weeks. The job I moved to has been awesome, and I'm glad I was put on a path to end up here, but my God, they were useless.

Did I mention they were terribly racist? They got a guy in to do the front end. He was Asian. My boss says 'he's not like other asians, he's assimilating. He goes pig shooting'
I said 'F***, I've never gone pig shooting, have I assimilated'?

A friend just pointed out that today we'll have (or had, by now) the time 21:21:21 of 21-01-2021 in the 21st century...
So I explained to her about the ing Gregorian, Chinese and Julian calendar (as examples), time zones (and that they're not all an hour apart), notations, leap years and seconds, standards AND HOW A COMPUTER CAN'T HANDLE ANY OF THEM!

So I had a Gold Coast holiday booked, but there's a couple of Corona Virus cases up there (australia is nothing like the hot mess the USA is in). My wife is a nurse and won't go. So I got vouchers from the airline.
This morning I get an email that I have to rebook a flight. Seems they only refunded one and I have NO vouchers. They are useless
I also have $600 in vouchers for Gold Coast theme parks. I actually HATE the Gold Coast

Having an airline is a sideline. Their primary business is transporting livestock, primarily in cattle cars.

My kids were supposed to come up from Sydney to Cairns for Christmas with Jetstar, they paid the extra to cover COVid19 problems. Naturally that all got cancelled, when they tried to change the flights - additional $600 but they were given a complete refund. Rebooked for Easter and we all have our fingers crossed.

It's all been a bit sh*t. I was in QLD when it started, I did quarantine three times so far, once in a hotel.
I didn't pay any extra so I got vouchers. I pay extra on all my Melbourne business trips as I can claim them, and then I can be more flexible.

There may be a great wall of objections to that claim. Once, I saw a movie on this subject, produced on mongoloid, by a learning disabled member of his hoard.

I wonder if anyone has found any of ol' Genghis' water storage vessels. They'd probably be really valuable Kahnteens.

I can't. Sorry.
I don't have an elephanting clue to what the answer may be.
This is just my new policy to indicate that I can understand the CCC OTD.
Impress some of the other participants.
Where in fact I am usually totally lost and clueless.
So I followed your lead just to impress.
Seriously I am impressed with everyone who participates, however, it often makes me feel stupid and inadequate. I am so impressed with the answers but hardly ever can work them out myself.
I do enjoy it though.
