1. The lounge is for the CodeProject community to discuss things of interest to the community, and as a place for the whole community to participate. It is, first and foremost, a respectful meeting and discussion area for those wishing to discuss the life of a Software developer.
The #1 rule is: Be respectful of others, of the site, and of the community as a whole.
2. Technical discussions are welcome, but if you need specific programming question answered please use Quick Answers[^], or to discussion your programming problem in depth use the programming forums[^]. We encourage technical discussion, but this is a general discussion forum, not a programming Q&A forum. Posts will be moved or deleted if they fit better elsewhere.
3. No sys-admin, networking, "how do I setup XYZ" questions. For those use the SysAdmin[^] or Hardware and Devices[^] forums.
4. No politics (including enviro-politics[^]), no sex, no religion. This is a community for software development. There are plenty of other sites that are far more appropriate for these discussions.
5. Nothing Not Safe For Work, nothing you would not want your wife/husband, your girlfriend/boyfriend, your mother or your kid sister seeing on your screen.
6. Any personal attacks, any spam, any advertising, any trolling, or any abuse of the rules will result in your account being removed.
7. Not everyone's first language is English. Be understanding.
Please respect the community and respect each other. We are of many cultures so remember that. Don't assume others understand you are joking, don't belittle anyone for taking offense or being thin skinned.
We are a community for software developers. Leave the egos at the door.

The "AI answer " is "missing " why would you want to do that ?"...''
and besides - what does AI knows about "GIGO" ?
It’s difficult to say what’s wrong with the code without more context. Can you provide more information about what the code is supposed to do and what isn’t working as expected? Also, is this the entire code or just a part of it?

Should anybody worry about AI "taking over the world" in the next few years? No.
Should anybody be concerned about the future of their jobs specifically and society generally as AI becomes more robust in the future? Yes.
Not sure why so many struggle with this... like everything else in technology - AI will continue to get more functional with every advancement.

As a serious reply, I think neither - it's a complex problem of culture, education, media (news and social), environmental factors, prenatal care, nutrition, economic situation, and so forth, in no particular order. The sad thing is, all of those factors could be addressed at least to the extent that infants => children => adults could at least have a decent opportunity in life. But I'm biased in my views of the sad situation most kids are dealing with, so take all that with the due amount of sodium intake.

It was asked recently if the need for software developers would ever go away. After some debate 2 schools of thought emerged. The 1st group thought that artificial intelligence would supplant developers and that project managers and sales & marketing would become the more important fields in software. The 2nd Group (consisting mostly of software developers) couldn't articulate a coherent response - they were laughing too hard.

Neither group is entirely right but Group 1 is nearest the mark.
My prediction: Within 50 years (probably a bit less) a LARGE percentage of today's software development jobs will be gone. A few "wizards" will remain to mind the AI but the mundane stuff that the vast majority of today's devs do will be gone. That being said - project managers and sales/marketing drones will also be gone. The CEOs will deal directly with the wizards.

The subject says it. Once before I fixed a widget that had gone bang on a Friday, today the same widget totally different issue, fixed it. Why do these things go bang on Thursday nights & Friday mornings. A time when you want to winding down...

For the same reason that if you have a doctors, dentist, other appointment at 11:30 AM, things will go bang about 11:00 AM, and need an hour to fix. The universe hates me.

I'm working on a child's game that uses a voice playback module to give random instructions to a child, they press a button and the next instruction is given. Simple, had it working perfectly.
So my SO recorded a bunch more instructions, I downloaded them to the board and now everything went to hell in a hand basket.

The real answer is because Workers don't start doing anything during the work-week until sometime around 10am on Thursdays.
All that activity creates a huge strain on your software / hardware and things break.

Yeah, the first part of the week is spent procrastinating by doing "refactoring".
E.g. "it will be easier to add that new feature they want by the end of the week if I just rework some of this code first..."
Actually, I have been in that "refactoring mode" on my current utility for about two weeks now. Maybe I can get to that new feature next week.

Boy have I been there - tooth root infection started acting up on Friday evening - got into the dentist on Monday after a sleepless and painful weekend. Just about fell asleep right there in the dentist chair once the Novocain shot started working.
