I hope it will never be repeated.

Words fail me.
So much pain and suffering caused then and there and after because of a bunch radicals who used religion as mask for their activities. In my heart, my hate and scorn for them is as boundless as the sorrow and sympathy that I feel for the fallen victims and their loved ones.
They will never be forgotten.

A for Gavin, and another for your remembrance of him.
...but we should not remember the victims of this murderous plot on just one day a year. We should remember them every time we hear or read about another hideous scene of carnage perpetrated by the most evil thing there is - the corruption of men's minds. Only by marking each occasion can we become aware of just how large this hydra is, whose heads we must cut off.
I, too, have lost a good friend to terrorism (different time, different place), but with regard to 9/11 I mark the words of (I think) Sam Harris: "Only losers have to hijack 'planes - winners have an air force."

Once again, apologies, if this is a repost.
Little Zachary was doing very badly in math. His parents had tried everything...tutors, mentors, flash cards, special learning centers. In short, everything they could think of to help his math.
Finally, in a last ditch effort, they took Zachary down and enrolled him In the local Catholic school. After the first day, little Zachary came home with a very serious look on his face. He didn't even kiss his mother hello. Instead, he went straight to his room and started studying.
Books and papers were spread out all over the room and little Zachary was hard at work. His mother was amazed. She called him down to dinner.
To her shock, the minute he was done, he marched back to his room without a word, and in no time, he was back hitting the books as hard as before.
This went on for some time, day after day, while the mother tried to understand what made all the difference.
Finally, little Zachary brought home his report Card.. He quietly laid it on the table, went up to his room and hit the books. With great trepidation, His Mom looked at it and to her great surprise, Little Zachary got an 'A' in math. She could no longer hold her curiosity.. She went to his room and said, 'Son, what was it? Was it the nuns?' Little Zachary looked at her and shook his head, no.. 'Well, then,' she replied, Was it the books, the discipline, the structure, the uniforms? WHAT WAS IT?'
Little Zachary looked at her and said, 'Well, on the first day of school when I saw that guy nailed to the plus sign, I knew they weren't fooling around.'
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

Where do you have them? In a box under the stairs? Do me a favour and drown them and then flush them down the loo.

I will now retire to the tv room and watch the Swans bow out of the AFL season. I hope not but I don't like their chances.
Now you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. Aussie Rules!

Is there still the same number of punch ups as there used to be years ago, or are the more sportsmanly now?

Too bad they screwed the pooch and after being 5 goals up lost by just under a goal.
What a f***ed nigh for sports, 18:30 on channel 9 was the 2 semi finals of the NRL back to back. 19:00 channel 10 had the Swans on and 19:30 channel 7 had the Bledisloe Cup match. My remote hasn't forgiven me for the abuse and the Wallabies like the Swans gave up what should have been an unassailable lead.

My remote loves me, over here we only get the Australia Network (ABC) and they had the Rugby and then the AFL straight after, channel never moved.
A couple of EXCELLENT matches despite both teams losing by the slimest of margns. By half way through the last quarter I was sitting there going "aarrgh not AGAIN". So to console my self I dived into a(nother) nice bottle of shiraz.
