It's already been done: 15 years ago a system was produced to analyse images of melanomas to determine if they were malignant.

It is amazing how many people are determined to use NNW for this, especially when there has been such success with edge detection algorithms etc.
Worse they don't understand (or care?) about the implications: You can't work out why the NNW arrived at a decision for why image a is, for example, probably cancerous but image b isn't. Meanwhile the person in image b dies, and you can't fix the NNW to prevent it from happening again.
I like your comment BTW, it has exactly the correct level of sarcasm.

Dave - why has this been brought to the lounge. I'm sorry to sound like I'm banging on a drum here, but there's no need to bring him here for mocking. Downvote him or get it deleted, that's what is required.

ok, point taken
It was never meant to be a take him to the slaughter type posting, otherwise i wouldn't have started of with a subject and question for which i have no answer.....
It just end up going down the undesired path.
No more then......i am crawling back under my stone now.

I deleted it. It's true that it's more amusing to make fun of those who are devaluing our profession, and probably flooding our hospitals with code they found on the internet, due to the madness of outsourcing, but, in the end, it's all just too depressing.

I thought I'd tease our iCPIAns (Indian CPians) about the Commonwealth Games and how they are being out performed by Nauru[^] (at least per-capita). You know, in the spirit of international rivalry that such games do so-much to promote.
Anyhoo I, an overweight Brown Haired (increasingly no-haired) Geordie with a penchant for certain delicious porcine foodstuffs (in a stottie, with brown sauce or with fried egg, either is good) and bushy side-burns, am an absolute doppleganger for Kate Winslet[^]. Sorry gents, but I'm not open to offers!

You've ruined the Titanic nude painting scene for thousands of CPians now. Damn you!

Speaking of Commonwealth Games, do you represent the common or the wealth? Just curious why you'd have games for either.

You're coming back to the hallowed land at Christmas? Let me know when and we'll get together and sink a brew or 12 - although we won't be going to my favourite eatery; the Kublai Khan has shut.

As long as my work gives me vacation in time to book flights.... I was thinking about getting in contact anyway. Was Kublai Khan the Mongolian place on the Quayside?

So the estate agent came and took some pictures of the house this morning and said he would mail me the images so I could select which ones I wanted to use.
True to his word the email arrived about 30 minutes after he left. And then it arrived again. And again. And again.
It's now turning up every minute or so. I called and he said he had put a call in to his help desk. Grr.
Hmm: perhaps I'll set up a rule to send them back!
